After 3 amazing years running this course we are happy to announce that we are back in 2020 with a new and improved course which includes 4 different packages!


 

Road2Worlds is the industry’s leading Training Package for individuals looking to compete in OCR. We have previously focused on 2 main peaks, the OCR European Championships and the OCR World Championships. For 2020 we will also be including the U.K Championships. Even if you are not attending the Champs we still get lots attending just to raise their game and become more competitive in other OCR events.


 

All training is done on the site of the U.K’s top obstacle training venue – The P.T Barn, and is delivered by 2 of the most experienced OCR Coaches in the game. Last year we bought in additional coaches when required to keep the high standards.


 

We have worked hard over the last 3 years and have put all of our experience and knowledge together to bring the U.K the very highest quality training course for the competitive OCR participant. This year we have raised our game once again and in 2020 you will be signed up to our best one yet!


 

Over the last 3 years we have had countless R2W podiums at World, European, National, League and Individual Event level in both Elite and Age Group. Just as importantly we have also had the most amazing progressions with different abilities.

2019 was the first year that we have split the courses into ability level and it worked even better than expected. Those on the ‘Improvers’ Course told us how much more comfortable they felt training with people of a similar ability and felt they were able to take so much more from it.

What is it?

These packages have been designed and created by 2 of the U.K’s most experienced OCR Coaches. We have already played a huge part in raising the quality of OCR Coaching for the Competitive Racers. Want to get Fit, there are loads of coaches for that, want to get Fast, there are loads of coaches for that. To be a Competitive OCR Athlete we believed that we needed to go far more in depth, look at the mental as well as the physical and get you looking at all areas of your racing game. We worked so hard creating the 2017 + 2018 +2019 packages and believe me when I see that the 2020’s packages are looking even stronger! Every smallest detail has been looked at to bring to you our finest packages yet! Time to stop just Training Hard and start TRAINING SMART!


 

Each of the packages are made up of 4 dates set throughout the year. Some of the courses are classroom and training based and some are just training based (although you will still be given online documents and will be expected to do homework away from the course).

Course 2
 Intermediate/Advanced Train, Skills and Drills Course - 4 Days total

This course is all about the training! The first session starts with learning the Drills/Skills required through the 4 main focus areas; Running, Strength/Conditioning, Fitness and Technical. We will take you through a range of training sessions which you will be able to take away and adapt for home training as you look to build in ability ready for the progressions that we will show you on Day 2, 3 and 4. This package perfectly develops in skill and intensity throughout the season making sure you are ready to move up to the next level at the right time and in good condition to meet the demands of the next training block.

Who is this package aimed at?

This course is aimed at those who are already competitive in both Elite or Age Group who are looking to take their OCR Game up to the next level. You will be training with like minded / similar ability people who will work together to get the most out of one another. We expect you to have good running, fitness, strength/conditioning and obstacle ability as well as a good understanding of training. You will not be doing classroom-based training but will be expected to complete homework and will still receive online content to complete alongside the sessions. This is ideal for those who already have a good base knowledge and just want to learn new training plans, exercises and skills. If you are unsure which course is right for you please just ask.

Day 1 – 23/02/20 – 09:00-17:00.

​

Goal Setting
We will be helping you work out exactly what your goals are. It is important that you set a range of goals to help keep you focused and on track.

OCR Technical Skills Training
We will work on a range of non-pressurised techniques to get your skill level up to where it needs to be. This will start with high recovery – high quality training. This time of the year will be about working on the basics but doing the basics really well. Getting the basics perfected makes such a difference as you go through the season. Often people struggle with advanced skills because their basics are not up to scratch.

OCR Functional Fitness Session
You will work through a structured Fitness Session which you can take away and use as part of your training programme. The programme will be created to get you meeting the requirements needed for the champs. The session will include a range of functional exercises put together to get the most out of your fitness out on the course. This time of the year it is important to look at the quality and not just the quantity of your training. Often obstacle racers focus on running and forget about their fitness. Being functionally fit will help you keep form when running and up on the obstacles. 

OCR Specific Strength Session
You will work through a structured Strength Session which you can take away and use as part of your training programme. The programme will be created to get you meeting the requirements needed for the champs. You will learn a range of Strength exercises which we feel will be needed out on the course. Now is time to build strength, not a few weeks before the champs. Get the fundamental exercises perfected before the season starts. This will also play an import role in keeping your body balanced and aid injury prevention. 

Run Conditioning, Drills and Exercises Programme
You will start by working through a range of running drills designed to help condition your running and hold better form for longer. Most people focus on the quantity of running rather than the quality of running. Building up the quality of your running will massively improve your running efficiency and therefore result in better results and fewer injuries. We will then move on to a Running session which you can take away and use as part of your training. The winter season isn’t just about hitting the miles. You need to also be looking at the quality of your running. You will finish by taking part in a structured running programme which has been developed with the assistance of U.K Athletics Coaches.

Day 2 –29/03/20 - 09:00-17:00.

​

Technical Training Including Strength, Fitness and Running Drills from Day 1
We will recap and then progress on from the drill learnt in Day 1. The skills learnt on Day 2 will make for a smooth transition and help you when it comes to working on more advanced skills later down the line. We will also be mixing the skills from day 1 with Strength, Fitness and Running Drill to get your training a little more functional.

Pre-Race Warm Up Drills/Exercises
Race performance can be majorly affected by the quality of your warm up. We will show you how to warm up in such a way that you can get maximum results out on the course.

OCR Functional Fitness Session
We will be progressing on from Day 1’s session and looking at more advanced exercises to take your fitness up to the next level. The day will start with recapping and reinforcing the techniques you learned previously. As you progress through the season the skills required for exercises in the Fitness session will become more complex/functional. 

OCR Specific Strength Session
On Day 1 we looked at the basic Push and Pulls so by now you should have got the fundamental Strength Exercises perfected. The next step will be to make them more functional to meet the demands of the course and what will be required of you. It is important that at this stage you are able to highlight areas of improvement as this is the perfect time to build strength, not just before your main event. 

Run Conditioning, Drills and Exercises Programme
By now you have had plenty of time to put the drills we gave you in Day 1 into practice. We will look to develop these skills and continue to improve the quality of your running. Already you will have seen huge changes in the Quality of your running. We will include the drills though a carefully structured running programme which has been developed with the assistance of U.K Athletics Coaches. 



Day 3 –19/07/20 - 09:00-17:00.

Pressurised Technical Training
It is all good being able to do technical obstacles in dry/controlled conditions but are you ‘Race Ready’? Add water/noise/people watching/us shouting and can you now compose yourself to get over the obstacle? Road2World Athletes always stand out at championship events through their quality of technical obstacle abilities. 

OCR Functional Fitness Session
In Day 3 you should be ready to up the quality of the exercises in your Fitness Sessions. Expect lots of big High impact exercises. We expect you to now have the conditioning to be able to meet the demands of the session. This will really help with your ability to run straight from an obstacle or to float through trenches. It is always the most hated session but if you stay committed you will gain huge advantages over your competitors. 

OCR Specific Strength Session
This is the session where you will really see just just how far you have come with your strength. We will now add strength elements to your technical training. Seeing it all come together and being able to obstacles you couldn't do in 2018 will give you a massive boost. The strength training will hit its peak and you will go away with championship standard strength exercises. 

Run Conditioning, Drills and Exercises Programme
By Day 3 we should have a fully adapted group of runners who can now perform drills on their own and throughout the training sessions. During this session will bring in more Hill based session and running on varied terrain. You will work through a running programme which has been developed with the assistance of U.K Athletics Coaches.

Day 4 – 23/08/20- 09:00-14:00.

Race Ready
The last day of the course is always a cracker! We will bring all 4 groups together and put your skills to the test. We start the day learning some complex skills which we believe will appear at the World Champs and then move onto a range of race scenario drills.
